Marjan Teeuwen creates large-scale architectural installations in buildings that are subsequently demolished following her interventions. She disrupts the materials of construction and structure and builds new artistic images in which floors are tilted, walls are removed, and stacks of debris either run rampant or are painstakingly ordered into architectural sculptures. Constructive forces go hand in hand with destruction and decay in Teeuwen's work. This book presents several installations from her 'Destroyed House' series, including the recent project 'Destroyed House Gaza'. By choosing to work in occupied territory, Teeuwen allows the socio-political context to penetrate her method.

The Matrix Project' comprises two contexts, namely photographic work of architect Thierry Lagrange and the self-reflective trajectory that he developed during his doctorate at KULeuven. Lagrange's practice-based research developed to an autonomous artistic project, in which he studied the signification and nature of observation within a creative process. Through his multifaceted practice as an architect, photographer and researcher, Lagrange developed 'The Matrix Method'; a method that stimulates creativity within different contexts and can be implemented for example in art education. For the Matrix Project, 25 years' worth of photographs was entered into a context of research and presents a new perspective on different ways of seeing in our present visual culture.

Paris has about 600 impasses, cités, villas and squares: streets that come to a dead end. Cul-de-sacs, as they used to be called in French and are still called in English. Within the Périphérique, Paris is the most densely populated city in Europe, with more than 20,000 inhabitants per square kilometre. This book depicts about 200 cul-de-sacs from the 1st to the 20th arrondissement for the first time. The photographs offer a glimpse of part of Paris that usually goes unnoticed.

Published on the occasion of a major solo exhibition of Thomas Demand's work at Belgium Museum M Leuven in October 2020, this book focuses on Demand's relationship to architecture and his engagement with architects over almost fifteen years. The starting point is his ongoing series "Model Studies", in which the concept of the model itself is key, and includes rarely shown projects such as 'Black Label' (2009), 'Embassy' (2007), and 'Nagelhaus' (2008). The book is accompanied by essays from Adam Caruso (Architect and Professor of Architecture and Construction at the ETH Zurich), Maristella Casciato (Curator of Architecture, Getty Research Institute, Los Angeles) and Emily Pugh (Architectural historian, Getty Research Institute, Los Angeles), Aude-Line Dulière (Architect and Professor at the Architectural Association, London), Karen Van Godtsenhoven (Associate curator at the Fashion Institute, Metropolitan Museum, New York), and Valerie Verhack (Curator at M Leuven). With contributions by Arno Brandlhuber and Rirkrit Tiravanija.

The book Labyrinth exhibits a selection of extraordinary photographs by Tim Onderbeke (°1983) of architecture by Alfons Hoppenbrouwers, Juliaan Lampens, Paul Felix, Paul Meekels, Jul De Roover, Jan Tanghe, Lode Wouters, René Stapels, Victor Bourgeois and objects and sculptures by Roger Bonduel. I’m very sensitive to the ‘appearance’ of a building in an environment. As I wandered through the Flemish landscape, I was drawn to the aesthetics of these properties and to the host of ever-changing impressions concerning styles, spatial planning, functions and eras. I’m not an architect. I’m not guided by plans or texts. The architecture allows me to create a new image: the poetry of lines — which is why Le Corbusier’s Poème de l’angle droit is so resonant — , the compositions, the materials that are specific to the building. It enables me to discover architecture as an image, as something layered and complex. I look at the architecture through the lens of my camera, the architecture exists for me as an image, not as an object or as a character. It is a search for a mental space that withdraws from the power of architecture.
